Welcome to Breast Buddies

Breast Buddies is a community group which aims to promote breastfeeding in Leeds.

We are a group of mums who have all breastfed our children and want to encourage other mums to start (or continue) breastfeeding. Together we are the management of Breast Buddies!

At the moment we have sixteen volunteers who have undertaken a ten week training course in providing breastfeeding support and they are happy to meet you.

 

Latest news: International Breastfeeding Awareness Week is 1st - 7th August 2008. Please tell us about your experiences of breastfeeding in different countries by filling in the form here. We are currently compiling the top five breastfeeding friendly places in Leeds. To suggest your favourite places please email Kathryn at director@breastbuddies.org We are concerned that the Government appears to have back-tracked over the proposals to ensure that mothers breastfeeding babies can do so without fear of being asked to stop. Initially the proposals were for babies up to 12 months but this appears to have changed to six months. We support the petition to make breastfeeding in public legally acceptable for all babies and children. To sign the petition click here.

It is our hope to promote breastfeeding in Leeds by keeping breastfeeding in the press and by working with other organisations. We organised a poster campaign to celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Week 11th to 17th May and are maintaining a database of breastfeeding friendly places in Leeds.
